01
Our commitment to accessibility
At Bayfield Dental, we’re committed to digital accessibility for everyone, including people with visual, auditory, physical and cognitive disabilities. Everyone deserves easy, unhindered access to dental health information and services.
We keep improving the experience and apply the relevant accessibility standards, in line with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
02
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) set out how to make websites accessible to people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA and Level AAA.
The Bayfield Dental website (bayfielddental.com) is designed to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We aim for every page to be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.
03
Built-in accessibility tools
Tap the round accessibility icon in the bottom-left corner of any page to open our Accessibility Tools drawer. You can:
- Change text size: make text larger in three steps, up to 140%.
- Switch to a readable font: Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for legibility.
- Underline links: give every link a clear underline for easier orientation.
- Adjust colour and contrast: grayscale, high contrast and inverted colours to reduce eye strain and improve visibility.
- Pause animations: stop motion and background videos across the page.
Your choices are saved on this device.
Beyond these tools, the site is built with semantic HTML so it works with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers. It follows your device’s reduced-motion setting, every video has a pause button, and every phone number is tap-to-call.
04
Ongoing testing and improvements
Accessibility is a continuous effort. We regularly check our website with automated tools and manual reviews to find and fix barriers. Whenever we update content, add features or adopt new technology, meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA remains a core requirement.
05
Third-party tools
Some features rely on third-party services, such as our online booking tool (provided by RecallMax) and links to Google Maps for directions. We choose vendors who share our commitment to inclusion, but we can’t fully control the accessibility of external platforms.
If any part of booking online doesn’t work for you, call 705-728-2601 and we’ll book your appointment by phone.
06
Feedback and contact
We welcome your feedback. If you hit a barrier, need dental information in another format, or need help booking an appointment, reach out. We aim to respond to accessibility inquiries within two (2) business days.
